    PREVENT

At Lumbertubs Primary we want to support our children and families from being drawn into terrorism, becoming terrorist or supporting terrorism or extremism in any form or guise. As a school, there is no place for extremist views of any kind whether from internal sources; pupils, staff, or governors or external sources' school community, external agencies or individuals. We recognise that extremism and exposure to extremist materials and influences can lead to poor outcomes for children. PREVENT is the prevention of children falling prey to radicalisation or extremism, and forms part of our Safeguarding Children approach.

Our pupils and staff should see our school as a safe space to explore controversial issues safely and our teachers encourage and facilitate this to happen through their Personal, Social, Health and Education and wider curriculum .

Lumbertubs Primary aims to minimise the risk and prevent them from being drawn in. We ensure that all staff are PREVENT trained and are aware of the signs and indicators of radicalisation and extremist behaviours. We work closely with the police and other agencies where any concerns are raised.

How can I get help about my concerns?

It can be hard to know what to do if you’re worried someone close is being radicalised, or expressing extreme views or hatred, which could lead to them harming themselves or others. Working with other organisations including local authorities, the police protect vulnerable people from being drawn into terrorism through a Home Office programme called Prevent.

ACT Early and tell us your concerns in confidence. You won’t be wasting our time and you won’t ruin lives, but you might save them.

Call the ACT Early Support Line on 0800 011 3764, in confidence, to share your concerns with our specially trained officers. The Support Line is open 24 hours every day.
