  • Fit For Life week

    Thu 04 Jul 2019

We have had a successful Fit For Life week this week. The children have enjoyed a variety of different sporting activities and healthy living workshops.

We kicked off the week with a Race For Life where all years did laps of the school field to raise money for Cancer Research. We managed to raise a brilliant £144.

The children took part in a dance workshop where they learnt and performed a fantastic routine.

Year 3 & 4 participated in a tennis workshop and learnt some new skills.

Year 6 did a great job at raising money for their leavers hoodies by completing a sponsored 2 hour danceathon and a penalty shootout with Jack from GLK. They managed to exceed their target amount so a huge well done to year 6.

On Tuesday we started with a KS2 Athletics Sports Morning. Children had fun trying out different athletic events.

KS1 and Nursery took part in a Healthy Eating Workshop where they learnt all about the right food choices.

Tuesday afternoon was our whole school sports day. This was a great success thank you to all the parents who came and supported.

On Wednesday Lucan from Northampton Town FC spent the day with us. He taught the children about the lifestyle football players lead and how they need to stay fit and healthy. He also lead some football coaching and a penalty shoot out. We also had a visit from Clarence the Dragon.

As well as football the children had the opportunity to participate in a kick-boxing session with members of the Brookside Hub and a Circus Skills workshop with Matt who runs our Tuesday morning club.

Overall a great few days were had by all the children. Thank you to everyone who made this week a success. Special mention to Sarah Forster for all her hard work in organising it all.
